Providing Health Care, Educational Resources, and Clean Water to Communities in Need
IDM, a faith-based non-profit, was founded in 2001 by a small group of Northern Nevada individuals interested in providing community assistance with funding and professional expertise. IDM projects are designed to provide basic life necessities such as health care, clean water, and education with the aim of stimulating sustainable spiritual, physical, and economic growth. IDM endeavors to bring resources to address needs that have been identified by local communities in developing areas.
Mua Hills Medical Clinic
Mua Hills Medical Clinic was the first completed project of IDM. The Clinic opened in 2004, offering health care services to residents independent of ability to pay. Clinic personnel also delivered health care and education to people living in remote areas through traveling health clinics.
Education
Globally, IDM assists schools in Kenya by providing classroom materials and other supplies needed to assist students throughout their primary and secondary school years. The International Development Missions Endowment in Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno awards scholarships to students seeking a career in international public health practice and research.
Clean Water
IDM has worked cooperatively with local community members, US volunteers, and University of Nevada students to install low cost water solutions for rural Kenyan communities
